Description
This high profile project commemorates those individuals who lost their lives in
the line of duty while serving and protecting our communities.
David Penny of Gloss Landscaping Services says : “These individuals were of high
character and deserve to be honoured and remembered for their courage,
integrity, dedication and commitment to service in the field. Many families have
lost loved ones and close friends and thanks to the creation of this memorial,
their memories will be forever engraved in our hearts.”
This project, located in Canberra’s Kings Park (adjacent to Aspen Island and the
Centenary Carillon), was completed with great care and attention to detail from
all concerned.
“Although there were many obstacles,” says David, “all were overcome with the
combined effort and commitment of dedicated personnel. And, as you can see, the
finished product is second to none.
“The construction element alone – with its multi-faceted aspects, intricate
design detail and variety of products and surface treatments – would have
daunted many, yet they have been achieved with outstanding results.
“This project boasts many amazing features which are both pleasing to the eye
and highly memorable. Not only that, the combination of high quality workmanship
and quality materials places this project in a class of its own.”
Work on the project began in May 2006 and completed September 2006. The National
Police Memorial Dedication Ceremony was held on September 29, 2006 and was
attended by heads of parliament, dignitaries, government officials, police heads
of states and police personnel, project personnel, family members and close
friends.
Gloss Landscaping Services would like to thank those who played a part in
bringing this project to fruition. “A special thankyou goes to the principal
contractor, Manteena Pty Ltd, for giving us the opportunity to play a part in
the construction of a prominent and most meritorious project of this magnitude,”
says David. “We would also like to thank the project architects, Fairweather
Proberts, our key personnel and suppliers – Fyshwick Amber (ACT), Genex Marmi &
Graniti Pty Ltd (Sydney) – and the many others who helped put this project
together.
“All work was completed with the utmost distinction and will be remembered and
appreciated by many.”
